Premium RFID key fobs with T5577 chips are basically programmable 125 kHz transponders in the form of a keychain and are very convenient to carry around.
The new key fobs are not programmed, and if you read them with a 125 kHz reader it won’t read anything. To be able to use them, you have to program them with a RFID cloner or another programming device.
The programming device reads a 125 kHz transponder current (your access control card or your old key fob) and then it clones the chip ID number onto the new T5577 key fob.
When the T5577 chip is encoded, the Premium RFID key fob acts as a normal 125 kHz read-only chip (like the EM4200 or TK4100) and then read it sends the same ID as the other 125 kHz transponder.
If needed, you can easily re-program the chip or change the chip ID multiple times.
The programmable key fobs can facilitate the work of property managers as well.
When there is a need to issue new keys, just copy the existing access control keys and save having to physically go to to the property.
Some times the access control system providers use some security elements which prevent the users from using their own transponders, and in these cases the cloned key fobs cannot work.
Banking cards and other secure RFID cards have their security on a higher level and so T5577 chips cannot be used to duplicate banking cards.
The basic component of the Atmel Temic T5577 chip is the Atmel® ATA5577M1330C IDIC® chip that operates on a frequency of 125 kHz and has a programmable memory.
The T5577 chip is the latest version of the T55xx chip and is compatible with the previous versions, the T5557 and T5566.
Besides using the chip ID for cloning, the T5577 chips are used for several applications. It is quite common in older hotel systems where the room management system generates a temporary key and it stores it on the card, and is also used in amusement parks, wellness centers, etc.
The Premium RFID key fobs have an upper part and a ring made of stainless steel and a lower part is a bit bendable and made of a plastic material that looks like a black leather. The total dimension including a ring is 85 x 35 mm and is around 7 mm thick.
By default, they do not contain the numeration or other printed elements, but if you need customization, please let us know and we will send you an offer.
Reading test for Premium RFID key fobs with a 125 kHz programmable chip T5577
We tested the programmed T5577 key fobs with different kinds of readers and measured the reading distances. This is not an official test, but was made to inform you what reading distances you may expect with your application.
The reading distance between the key fob and the reader is affected by many different factors, like the size of the antennas and quality of the chips, the interferences of metal, and electromagnetic signals, etc.
