NFC key fobs are basically NFC tags in the form of a keychain and are very convenient to carry around. They can unlock the doors, pay for a coffee at a vending machine, or can be used to identify users in various other NFC applications.
Proximity chips
MIFARE® DESFire® EV2 are made by the trusted chip manufacturer NXP Semiconductors, and are the most popular NFC Type 4 chips (chips for secure transactions). They operate on a frequency of 13.56 MHz and are compatible with the RFID standards ISO/IEC 14443-4A/B and ISO/IEC 7816. They have a 7-byte long chip Unique ID number (UID) and 2, 4, or 8 Kbytes of data. MIFARE DESFire EV2 chips use multiple hardware cryptographic engines for secure transactions. The data retention time for these chips is 25 years.
MIFARE DESFire EV2 chips are typically used for:
- Secure NFC applications
- Secure Access control and Ticketing
- Public transportation
- Cashless vending
- Micro Payments.
Our key fobs with MIFARE DESFire EV2 4k chips have a very common tear-shaped housing that is made from plastic material (ABS) and measures 40 x 32 x 3.5 mm. The key fob is on top of a metallic ring so you can easily attach to the keys or to some other accessory. The key fobs are available in multiple colors.
The key fobs are without the numeration or other printed elements, but if you need the customization, please let us know and we will send you an offer.
Options for customization (for pricing please send an inquiry)
Beside the key fobs from stock, you can order customized key fobs with a housing in different color or shape, we can print on key fobs your company logo, serial number, or chip ID code. There are available also other variations of the chip MIFARE DESFire like the MIFARE DESFire EV1 or EV3 with different storage capacity (2, 4, or 8 Kbytes of data).
Since the chip ID code can be read in more than 50 different ways, we take extra care that we print the code in the proper format. Many NFC devices (including NFC phones and tablets) read the chip ID in 14-digit hexadecimal number (known as 14 HEX Reverse Byte format).
Reading test for key fobs with MIFARE DESFire EV2 4k chips
We tested the MIFARE DESFire EV2 4k key fobs with different kinds of readers and measured the reading distances. This is not an official test, but was made to inform you what reading distances you may expect with your application.
The reading distance between the key fob and the reader is affected by many different factors, like the size of the antennas and quality of the chips, the interferences of metal, and electromagnetic signals, etc.
