Digital business cards are becoming very popular and widely used at business meetings, exhibitions, or even for private use. They allow us to contactless transfer our contact details to another phone or NFC device.
NFC cards with a NTAG215 chip are white plastic cards with a standard credit card dimension (86 x 54 x 0.85 mm) and they can be printed with standard card printers.
NTAG215 is NFC Type2 chip with a memory size of 504 bytes, is compatible to the ISO/IEC 14443-3A standard, and it has a 7-byte long unique ID number.
The programmed chip can be locked with a password, and the chip cannot be preprogrammed by other unauthorized users. The data retention time for these chips is 10 years.
In addition to being used for digital business cards, it provides many other NFC features:
- It can trigger your YouTube or other video presentation on a client’s phone,
- trigger a navigation with a destination address
- open a URL link with your website presentation
- display some stored text on client mobile phone
- open a mobile application or a download link to Google Play or another App Store
- automatically dial a phone number or open a pre-written SMS
- report the location (latitude and longitude)
- open a Street View at certain coordinates
- configure a Wi-Fi network or a Bluetooth connection
- add a Social Network link (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Twitter, Telegram, Slack, Skype, Reddit, etc.)
- search for product on Google, Amazon, AOL, Baidu, eBay, IMDb, Wikipedia, YouTube, etc.
- add a Bitcoin address for donations or other payments
- or just use a chip ID to trigger some customized actions.
The NFC chips can be programmed even with regular NFC mobile phones (Android and newer iPhones). To program NFC tags with a mobile phone, you can use free applications like NFC Tools, NXP Tag Writer, and other NFC apps.
The chip encoding is quite simple. If you use an app NFC Tools you have to click “Add Record” – select a feature you want to use, write your data, and press “Write.”
NFC Tools has many other useful features like “Copy tag,” “Erase tag,” “Lock tag,” “Read memory,” ” Format memory,” “Set password,” “Remove password,” and some other commands for advanced users.
Options for customization (for pricing please send us an inquiry)
You are welcome to buy white NFC cards from stock or send us an inquiry for customized cards with printed business card info, logo, serial number, QR code, or other printed elements.
When ordering larger quantities of encoded cards, it is more efficient that we do the encoding for you with our special NFC encoders and software.
When ordering small quantities of printed cards (1 to 500 pcs.), we usually use high quality thermal retransfer printers that print CMYK colors in the stunning resolution of 600 dpi.
The advantage of thermo retransfer printers is that they print one card at a time and allows us to print even a single card when needed. The disadvantages of thermal retransfer print are high costs of ribbons and slow speed, so it makes it less cost effective for higher quantities.
Quatities of 500 or more NFC cards are printed during the card manufacturing process with an offset technology. These cards are usually printed with digital printing (CMYK colors), and when needed we combine the print with silk screen and other printing technologies. This way we print the gold, silver, and many other Pantone colors.
Our other customization services include:
- Numeration or personalization form Excel table
- Printing different kind of barcodes and QR codes
- Reading and printing the chip ID numbers in various formats
- Chip encoding - writing custom data, change keys.
Reading test for White cards with NFC chip NTAG215
We tested these cards with different kinds of readers and measured the reading distances. This is not an official test, but was made to inform you what reading distances you may expect with your application.
The reading distance between the RFID card and the reader is affected by many different factors, like the size of the antennas and quality of the chips, the interferences of metal, and electromagnetic signals, etc.
