NFC developer kit with ACR1252-M1
(Product ID: 1683)

This development kit is designed for programmers who want to use NFC technology in their innovative applications. With the help of this kit, you will quickly learn the commands for writing and reading chips and get the necessary knowledge to integrate NFC technology in your applications.

The developer kit consists of an NFC reader/the ACR1252-M1 writer, various sample cards, and a password for an online access to many software tools and sample codes in various programming languages.

The ACR1252U-M1 is a desktop USB reader/writer that can operate in three modes: it can read and write to NFC chips, it can simulate the operation of an NFC chip, and it can dynamically communicate with other NFC devices such as mobile phones and tablets (peer-to-peer).

It is suitable for reading chip ID codes, reading password-protected content from the chip's memory, writing content to the chip (URL addresses, business cards content, links to videos, etc.), and it can dynamically comunicate with the applications on NFC phones or tablets. Communication between ACR1252U-M1 and other transponders or devices can also be encrypted using an additional microprocessor card that is inserted into the SAM module inside the reader.

ACR1252 readers are manufactured by Advanced Card Systems Ltd (ACS), which is among the three largest suppliers of smart card readers. Their products are used in banking and in various other card applications in more than 100 countries around the world.

The development kit with ACR1252U is a great tool that will help you quickly learn the principles of operation of this popular NFC reader/writer and allow you to develop innovative NFC applications.

In addition to the ACR1252U-M1 reader, you also get a pass code to access a number of software tools and sample transponders: 5 cards with Mifare Classic 1k chip, 5 cards with ACOS3 microprocessor chip, and one SAM card for data encryption (ACOS6-SAM Secure Access Module card).

For developers who also want to use NFC stickers, we recommend to buy additional samples, which are available on the page:

The ACR1252U-M1 is a certified NFC reader/writer that supports PC/SC and CCID protocols and connects to a computer via a USB connection.

It can work in three ways:

- as a reader/writer: can read the UID code of the chip, the contents of the memory, write the contents to the chip . . .
- as a card emulator: it can act as a standard NFC medium and simulate its operation
- as a peer-to-peer device: supports dynamic communication with other NFC devices such as mobile phones and tablets.

The ACR1252U-M1 reader operates at a frequency of 13.56 MHz and supports ISO 14443 Type A and B, MIFARE®, FeliCa, and ISO 18092 NFC media.

It is suitable for working with chips: MIFARE®, NTAG213, NTAG215, NTAG216, DESFire®, Fudan F08, FeliCa, and other NFC chips ISO/IEC 18092.

You can use it on different platforms such as Windows® CE, Windows®, Linux®, MAC OS®, Solaris, Android ™.

There are two versions of the reader:
-    ACR1252U-M1, with SAM module, which provides additional security of transactions
-    ACR1252U-M2, which does not contain a SAM module, but otherwise behaves the same as ACR1252U-M1.

If you only want to buy the readers, visit:

When buying only the readers, the software or samples are not included.

The software part of the SDK development kit contains the following programs:
PCSC Learning Tool, QuickView, Script Tool 4, Smart Card and Reader Tool, NDEF Tool for Peer-to-Peer and Card Emulation Mode.
Sample codes for working with the reader are written in programming languages:
Java, MS Visual Basic.NET 2008, MS Visual C # .NET 2008, MS Visual C ++ .NET 2008 (64-bit only), MS Visual C ++ 6.0 (32-bit only).

The ACR1252U reader reads the NFC transponders really well and the reading distance for bigger transponders is up to 7.5 cm. The reader works well even with small transponders, but in this case the reading distance is shorter.

The table below gives informational distances for reading in the case of different media:
