Compared to tags with Mifare-compatible chips, the tags with the original MIFARE Classic® EV1 chip have the following advantages:
Longer reading distance (Mave test: 3.5 cm for original vs. 1.5 cm for compatible)
- Better performance in challenging environments (e.g., industry)
- 2x longer chip lifespan (200,000 cycles instead of 100,000 cycles)
The market is flooded with RFID tags that look very similar, but often they are cheap counterfeits with inferior antenna and poor housing (e.g., caps falling off, etc.).
The authenticity of MIFARE Classic® EV1 chips can be verified using the
NXP TagInfo mobile application or special equipment.
